Rishi was born into a Sikh family who had migrated from India to the UK. His real name is Rishpal Singh and he grew up in Southall, England. Now the chart topping music producer with his record label Rishi Rich Productions is based in London although he travels around the world working with some of the biggest name mainstream and Bhangra artists.
The British Asian music producer first broke onto the scene in 1992. He started young, releasing his first single, Bombay Jungle, at the tender age of just 17. The album Love 2 Love followed which proved a massive hit for the youngster and signalled the starting point of a successful career in Bhangra music.
For many years Rishi was the main producer behind the Bhangra act 2 Kool helping them to achieve 2 chart topping albums. After running into some issues involving creative differences, Rishi and 2 Kool went their separate ways.
Not one to let the grass grow under his feet, Rishi soon teamed up with soul singer Veronica to form the R’n B act VR1. Together they racked up a host of hit songs and three best selling albums including The Next Stage and Voices.
As well as this, the talented producer has also been called upon by some big name artists to add some of his famous Hindi remixes to their tracks. He’s worked with Madonna, Britney Spears, Mis-Teeq and Craig David. Top Bhangra acts who’ve enlisted his help include Kumar Sanu and Undit Narayan.
