Bollywood star Aamir Khan has finally succumbed to popular demand and announced that he will be joining the micro-blogging site Twitter on July 1st.
The award-winning actor and producer was convinced to join Twitter by fellow Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan. The pair dined together in London recently and the 67-year-old screen legend twisted Aamir’s arm after talking up all of the benefits of being part of the Twitter phenomenon.
During the meal, the veteran actor even showed the 45-year-old Bollywood star how to post tweets from his mobile phone so he will be able to keep his fans up to date while on the move.
Previously Aamir had refused to join the social networking site, which is a favourite with celebrities, as he said he simply didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. After the encouraging words from Bachchan, it seems Ghajini actor has had a change of heart.
The Bollywood superstar won’t be short of followers once he officially signs up to Twitter come July 1st. Aamir’s film, 3 Idiots, which he starred in and produced, was the runaway winner at the International Indian Film Awards earlier this month after it took home 16 out of the 27 awards up for grabs.
Fellow Bollywood actor Salman Khan was celebrating last week after reaching 200,000 followers on Twitter, will Aamir be able to beat that impressive following? We won’t have long to find out…
