Movie director will give $10,000 to the person who watches his new thriller Phoonk 2 alone
The director a newly released Bollywood supernatural horror film has set his audience a unique challenge. Award-winning director Ram Gopal Varma says he’ll give $10,000 to the person who can watch the new film in a cinema all alone.
The 47-year-old director was on a promotional tour in Mumbai when he laid down the challenge. The movie fan who thinks they can sit through the entire film, Phoonk 2, on their own, in a movie theatre will take home the $10,000 prize.
However there are some conditions attached. The individual who takes on the quest will be hooked up to a heart monitor and they will be filmed by a surveillance camera to ensure they are watching the movie throughout, and not hiding their head behind a cushion.
This isn’t the first time the wacky director has attempted to entice movie fans to see his film with cash. When the film’s prequel was released in 2008, Phoonk, the same competition was launched. However it was called off after allegations that the selection process was rigged.
The film centres around a family who become haunted by the spirit of an evil being. The movie promises to be keep audiences on the edge of their seats, however the film’s director has a clear message for anyone who believes Phoonk 2 has no scare-factor: “Anyone who says the movie cannot scare him is going to be put in a theatre by himself,” You have been warned!
