Honey Singh’s Angreji beat to feature in Bollywood film ‘Cocktail’

Honey Singh’s Angreji beat to feature in Bollywood film ‘Cocktail’, 7.9 out of 10 based on 29 ratings

Talk about love for the bhangra! According to recent reports, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan spent months trying to get the rights to Punjabi song Angreji beat for his forthcoming production Cocktail – all because it is lady love Kareena Kapoor’s favourite song!

Kareena, who is a big fan of Honey Singh’s hit Angreji beat, insisted that the song be included in beau Saif’s upcoming production. Bhangra rapper-producer, and singer-composer of the song, Honey Singh, confirmed the news: “It’s true. Angreji beat is Kareena’s favourite track and she was very keen to have it in the film. Rajesh Banga of Eros (the co-producers of Cocktail) told me about it. It took me three months to arrange the NOC from various recording labels.”

Angreji beat is owned by three international music houses – Movie Box UK, Speed Records India and Planet Records Canada. In order for the song to be featured on Cocktail, it needed clearance from all three companies.

A source reveals: “Kareena wanted Angreji beat at any cost for the film. Saif suggested they use a modified version in Cocktail. But rearranging the beats and rhythm seemed impossible. So it was decided to keep the song intact in the film, no matter how many clearances it required.”

Cocktail, a romantic comedy directed by Homi Adajania, will star producer Saif Ali Khan with Deepika Padukone and debutante Diana Penty. The initial trailer for the film was launched on 21 May and received a phenomenal response from critics and the audience alike. The clip crossed a staggering 1 million views on YouTube within three days.

The film is scheduled for release on 13 July this year.
