Baby girl for Bollywood’s Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Leading Bollywood actress and model, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has given birth to a baby girl in a Mumbai hospital this morning. The Bride and Prejudice’s star’s husband, Abhishek broke the happy news on Twitter writing “It’s a girl :-) ”

Abhishek Bachchan’s father was quick to share his delight at the safe arrival of his new granddaughter, also writing on Twitter to tell his followers, “I am Dada to the cutest baby girl…ecstatic!”

Followers were quick to send their congratulations to the Bachchan family, with the new father writing back to thank the well wishers, adding that his 38-year-old wife and new daughter were resting, but both are well.

The baby girl is the first child for the high profile Bollywood couple, although the baby’s name is yet to be revealed. Aishwarya married into the famous acting dynasty that is the Bachchan family when she and Abhishek tied the knot in 2007. Prior to their wedding the former Miss World dated fellow Bollywood actor, Salman Khan.

Having been born into one of the most important families in Bollywood, with actor parents and a grandfather renowned as a megastar in India, the new addition to Bachchan clan is almost certainly destined for the big screen.

The baby girl was born at the private hospital, the Seven Hills, in Mumbai it has been reported. As recently as last week, the new parents and a heavily pregnant Aishwarya, were photographed out and about attending a party in the city.

Bollywood power couple to marry in early 2012

It’s the news we’ve been eagerly awaiting for some time, but Bollywood power couple Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor have finally ended their silence over their relationship and have confirmed their plans to marry in early 2012.

The announcement has ended months of media speculation that a Bollywood wedding was on the cards as the couple have been dating for a considerable length of time, with many believing that the pair were planning to take their relationship to the next level by tying the knot.

Saif Ali Khan has now made the news official by revealing in an interview his plans to marry the Bollywood beauty in either February or March of 2012. It seems their movie careers have been to blame for pushing back their wedding date as the release of Saif’s own production, starring Kareena Kapoor, Agent Vinod, was due for release in December but this has now been postponed until January.

The groom-to-be added that he and Kareena plan to marry as soon as the movie gets its release, although he admitted that if the release date gets moved again, they won’t be postponing the wedding beyond March 2012, so the biggest Bollywood wedding of the year will definitely be taking place in the coming months.

As yet, there’s been no further word on where the wedding will take place, although we anticipate that the big day will be lavish affair with the biggest names in Bollywood attending the celebrations.

Shilpa Shetty isn’t missing Bollywood

After announcing a break from acting earlier this year, Shipa Shetty has revealed in a recent newspaper interview that she isn’t missing her movie roles at all and is enjoying being able to focus on her other business ventures.

As well as admitting she isn’t missing her old life as a Bollywood actress, the 36-year-old also revealed the real reason behind her decision to break from the movie industry for two years.

While there were many rumours doing the rounds after Shilpa announced her sabbatical from acting, the actress turned businesswoman says the real reason was due to a lack of interesting movie roles being offered to her.

According to the former Big Brother winner, the only films she was being offered involved her playing a character similar to one she’d portrayed previously, and Shilpa decided to avoid repeating herself, she’d take herself out of the acting world for an extended break.

Leaving the glitz and glamour of the film industry behind her hasn’t had a negative effect, in fact the Bollywood star said she is very content with her life without acting, adding that she now has the time to focus on her other business commitments and her marriage to Raj Kundra.

Shilpa has been very busy outside of acting in recent times, working on her own range of yoga DVDs, opening a spa and launching a discounted real estate website, to name just a handful of actress and model’s business projects.

The Bollywood Academy to open a new centre in London

Following on from the success of their centre in Birmingham, The Bollywood Academy is this week celebrating the launch of their new academy which will be opening in Harrow, London.

A special event is being held featuring performances from some of the Academy’s students and also well known stars such as Juggy D and dancer, singer and actor and also academy founder, Faraz.

The grand opening will mark the first Bollywood academy in London, although several other centres are being planned for different parts of the city as the training provider plans further expansion.

After completion of a performing course with the Bollywood Academy, graduating students are signed up by a leading entertainment agent, Naila Mughal Artistes Agency. Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor attends unveiling of her waxwork in Blackpool

Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor was the guest of honour at the recent opening of a special exhibition dedicated to masala.org.uk”title=”" >Indian film stars at Madame Tussauds in Blackpool.

As well as officially launching the special exhibition, Kareena also had the opportunity to scrutinize her own waxwork which was seen for the very first time in public at the grand opening. The impressive waxwork for the Bollywood superstar, who has more than 40 movies under her belt, took four months to create and cost in the region of £150,000.

The Ra One actress was bowled over the likeness of the waxwork to herself, and described feeling extremely “honoured” to have had a model made in her image. The Kareena Kapoor waxwork will remain at Blackpool’s Madame Tussauds as part of the Indian movie star exhibition until January 2012, after which it will go on tour and be displayed at various locations throughout the world.

Over 1,000 fans queued up outside of the popular Blackpool attraction to get a glimpse of the film star as she arrived for the special event.

Other waxwork figures which have been created as part of the exhibition for Indian film stars include Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan , Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan.

Shilpa Shetty to bow out of Bollywood

Actress and businesswoman Shilpa Shetty has revealed plans to bow out of the film industry, saying her latest release, The Desire, will be her last movie.

Speaking at a recent event, the 36-year-old admitted that her priorities had changed since her marriage to Raj Kundra in 2009 and that she wants more time to devote to her marriage and business ventures and has therefore taken the decision to decline all film work, for the time being at least.

However the Celebrity Big Brother won’t be turning her back on the limelight entirely as she plans to continue to appear on television as part of endorsements for various projects. The actress added that she will also be involved in film work, but on the other side of the camera as a producer. Shilpa says she has no plans to direct her own movie, but she is interested in producing films.

As well as her successful Bollywood movie career, Shilpa has also carved out a burgeoning career for herself as a businesswoman with a number of high profile ventures. The Baazigar actress plans to dedicate her time to her businesses including the IPL team, Rajasthan Royals, in which she owns a stake along with her husband, and also her chain of luxury spas.

The news of her retirement form Bollywood is likely to add fuel to the rumours that she is expecting her first child with her UK based businessman husband, something which she has strongly denied in a recent interview. Speaking on the subject, Shilpa added that if she does fall pregnant, she would be happy to confirm the news, but finds the constant rumours disrespectful as they are totally unconfirmed.

Bollywood actress turned business woman, Shilpa Shetty, is rumoured to be expecting her first child with husband Raj Kundra.

The 35-year-old Big Brother winner has made no secret for her desire to start a family as she said in a recent interview that she’d like to have at least two children, before adding that she already has a child’s nursery in her home for when her husband’s nephew comes to stay.

If the news of Shilpa’s pregnancy turns out to be true, it will be the first child for her, but the second for her businessman husband Raj who has a daughter, Deelena who was born in 2006 during a previous relationship.

Shilpa and Raj married in a lavish ceremony in November 2009 after two years together. News of their wedding spread across the world with photographs from the big day being published in news papers and online all over globe. If the baby rumours are confirmed, it’s likely to spark a similar media frenzy as their 2009 wedding.

The Bollywood beauty has been spotted visiting a number of clinics in India, sparking the rumours she’s expecting. However the couple have remained tight lipped on the subject and have refused to confirm the news. Sources close to the pair have been reported as saying that Raj and Shilpa will hold out on confirming the news until the actress gets through the first trimester safely.

Leading Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra was the one feeling a little star struck this week after she was granted the opportunity to hang out with her favourite pop star, Lady Gaga.

The actress has made no attempts to conceal her admiration for the pop sensation that is Lady Gaga, and so jumped at the chance to spend some one-on-one time with the singer songwriter after her Madison Square Garden concert in New York this week.

Listing her favourite Gaga tracks as Bad Romance, Poker Face and Drag Queen, the 7 Khoon Maaf star was in her element in the audience at the sold out New York gig on Tuesday. The actress was especially impressed with the way Lady Gaga connected with her audience and the way she conveyed her message “be proud of who you are” with her fans.

The Bollywood star was also blown away by Lady Gaga’s voice. Adding that she couldn’t believe how great she sounded live.

Speaking about her chat with the wacky pop starlet, Priyanka revealed that fans of Lady Gaga in India may have something to celebrate soon, as the singer is considering a tour of Asia in the future.

Dance competition to win lunch with Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif is launched

Etihad Airways have launched an exclusive online dance competition with the first prize being lunch with top Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif.

The Bollywood beauty is the brand ambassador for Etihad, Airways, which is the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. Money simply can’t buy the first placed prize in this contest so the airline is expecting competition to be fierce.

A special Facebook page has been set up for the “Next Stop Bollywood” competition where contestants can upload their videos of them dancing for a chance to win the much sought after prize.

Viewers will then have the chance to vote for their favourite dancers from the selection of videos which are uploaded to the page, with the 10 dances which receive the most votes, being shortlisted for the final. From there, actress Katrina Kaif will whittle the list down to just 3 dancers. The eventual winner will then be chosen, and announced on May 20th.

The first placed winner will be treated to lunch with the top name actress, as well as receiving $5,000 in cash, and two Pearl Business Class tickets, and 5 nights’ accommodation in a 5 star resort. Plus the two runners up will also receive a number of superb prizes, including free flights with Eithad Airlines.
