R&B singer Jay Sean has decided to push back the release of his new album, Freeze Time, until February 2011.

The singer had planned to release the new album by the end of this year, but now fans won’t be able to get their hands on the new record until early 2011.

Two singles from the new forthcoming album have already been released, namely 2012 (It Ain’t the End) and Like This Like That featuring Birdman. The third single release from the new album is already available to hear online, the eagerly anticipated Break Ya Back.

In a recent interview Jay picked out Break Ya Back as one of the tracks on Freeze Time he was most proud of, saying the song features a different kind of sound, one the US fans are yet to hear from him.

Jay performed Break Ya Back at the recent MOBO awards held in Liverpool. The track, which has been produced by renowned music producer Timbaland, is an up tempo number which has been tipped to become a dance floor filler.

No reason has been given for the change to the release date of Jay’s forthcoming album Freeze Time, although it’s been suggested the release date may have been pushed back to avoid the record being overshadowed by other big releases in the run up to Christmas.

Jay Sean is set to perform at the MOBO Awards in Liverpool this year

International R&B star Jay Sean has been revealed as one of the performers at this year’s MOBO Awards. The Down singer will join a whole host of other top names who are due to take to the stage on the night including rap star Tinie Tempah, Professor Green, JLS and Mark Ronson.

The awards are due to take place at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on October 20th. The awards ceremony is highly regarded by artists as they are voted for by the fans. The voting lines have already closed for this year’s event and the votes are being counted ahead of the big night on October 20th.

The Music of Black Origin Awards (MOBO) is now in its 15th year. Last year marked the first time the awards show took place outside of London when the event was held in Scotland. It was at the 2009 awards that Leona Lewis announced that the event would be held in Liverpool the following year.

In the past, Jay Sean has received two MOBO nominations but is yet to come away with a coveted gong. However given the success of the Jay’s last year both in the UK and the US, this could be the year he finally walks away with MOBO under his arm.

Jay's hit single Down wins yet another top award

British Asian music star Jay Sean proved yet again that he’s set on his way to becoming an established artist in the US last week after his hit single Down picked up yet another accolade at a top awards ceremony in Hollywood.

The 10th annual BMI Awards were held in Hollywood, California last week and saw some of the biggest names in music turn out to celebrate the hits of the past 12 months. The BMI Awards is one of the only mainstream awards ceremonies to honour the songwriters and publishers exclusively.

Walking the red carpet at the glittering ceremony, Jay Sean described what the work of BMI means to him and the music industry as a whole. The BMI is a performing rights organisation which collects royalties from music which is broadcast across any medium and forwards the money on to the artists and songwriters direct. The R&B star from London described the BMI’s work as “essential” and as a form of “pension” as it ensures the people behind the music continue to make money from their songs many years down the line.

Lil’ Wayne, who’s collaborated with Jay on a number of records, was one of the big winners of the night after taking home the Urban Songwriter of the Year award for the second year running.

The Surrey based businessman scooped the title of world's fastest pizza maker at the Las Vegas final last week

An Asian businessman from Surrey beat off competition from across the globe to be named the World’s Fastest Pizza Maker last week.

Pali Grewal, who is a multi-store Domino’s Pizza franchisee, won the coveted prize after making 3 large pizzas in the staggering time of 39.1 seconds, which is one pizza in just over 13 seconds.

Each contestant was required to hand stretch fresh dough to create the pizza bases, cover with tomato paste sauce, and apply a different topping on each, one with mushroom, another with cheese, and also a pepperoni topped pizza.

Although speed is a vital to clinch the title, precision was also highly important. A panel of judges were on standby to assess each pizza and ensure it was the correct shape, monitor portion control, and general presentation. Any pizza which fell below the Domino’s Pizza judges’ high expectations, was sent back to the contestants to be perfected.

The final was held in Las Vegas as part of the Domino’s Pizza 50th Anniversary Worldwide Rally which was attended by 6,000 visitors.

Domino’s Pizza president and CEO J. Patrick Doyle attended the event to present Pali Grewal with the winner’s trophy for World’s Fastest Pizza Maker 2010 and also a cheque for $3,000. Mr Grewal has a great deal of experience in the pizza industry having worked with Domino’s Pizza for 18 years.

Jay Sean wins two gongs at the Brit Asia Music Awards

R&B superstar Jay Sean had a hugely successful night on Sunday after winning two out of the four awards he’d been nominated for at the Brit Asia Music Awards.

Jay was named the Best UK Urban Act and his hit track Down, which charted at number one in the US Billboard Chart, won the gong for Best Single.

The 26 year old had been shortlisted for Best Male, but lost out to Jaz Dhami, and Jay’s album All or Nothing was beaten in the Best Album category by Imran Khan’s Unforgettable.

The awards took place at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall in front of a packed audience of music fans and celebrities. Hardeep Singh Kholi, known for his roving reporter role on the BBC’s The One Show, hosted the night and did a fantastic job of keeping the crowd and famous faces entertained.

After the disappointment of not receiving a single nomination for the Brit Awards in February, it seems the singer from Hounslow’s luck may be changing. As well as picking up two awards at the Brit Asia TV Awards, Jay also swept the board at the British Asian Music Awards earlier this year after winning every award for which he was nominated taking home a total of four trophies.

The singer has recently returned from Australia where he played a number of dates in the country. Music fans are eagerly awaiting the release of a track which sees Jay Sean collaborate with Mary J Blige.
