Zee TV the pioneers behind the hit talent show ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Singing Superstar’ have launched a brand new spin-off show online which invites members of the public to show off their singing talent in exchange for fabulous prizes.

The bhangra group will broadcast their CD launch party online

Canadian bhangra band En Karma are set to release their debut album and will be celebrating the event with an official launch party in Vancouver.

The event is due to take place this Thursday night on October 21st at Vancouver’s Boss Nightclub and the evening will be hosted by A-Town who have been involved with the band from the very beginning.

En Karma will give the audience a sneak preview of some of the new tracks on the album with exclusive live performances during the evening. The band will also be joined by some surprise guests for some one-off performances, and some well known faces are also scheduled to drop in for a special appearance.

British Asian singing star, H-Dhami has been working closely with the band on their debut album and is believed to have provided the vocals on a number of tracks on the record. Earlier in the year, H-Dhami and En Karma came together to shoot the video for the single Tere Bina Nai Nachna with the singer travelling from London to Canada for filming for the music video.

Even if you’re not attending the En Karma’s CD Release party this week, you can do the next best thing and watch the event unfold online as the band are planning to broadcast a HD webcast during the launch in order to involve their fans across the world.

Shakira set for bollywood film role

International singing sensation Shakira is set to take on her first ever bollywood film role, it has been reported.

The Columbian singer will play a Hindu goddess in the forthcoming movie entitled Kaali: The Warrior Goddess. Although this maybe Shakira’s first bollywood role, she’s being thrown in the deep end with the responsibility of taking on the main character.

The film’s producer, Karan Arora says the singer has “agreed in principle” to appear in the movie. The film makers and the star’s representatives are currently in the process of agreeing the final details and conditions of Shakira’s role in the movie.

The movie will be shot in 3D with filming taking place in London and also an Eastern European city. The film’s producer has likened the style of the movie to that of blockbuster Avatar, but on a smaller scale.

Casting is still in the early stages and no other actors have been announced. The bollywood film makers were searching for a star with an international profile for the title role of the film. The 33-year-old Grammy Awards winning singer more than fits the bill having racked up a string of hits songs across the globe. Most recently Shakira was in the spotlight after her track Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) was chosen as one of the official songs for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Nicolas Cage set for Bollywood film role?

Rumour has it that Hollywood actor Nicolas Cage could be about to take on his first role in a Bollywood movie.

masala.org.uk”title=”" >Indian director Vidhu Vinod Chopra is said to be in Los Angeles right now casting for his new movie Broken Horses. The film is reported to be inspired by the director and writer’s 1989 movie Parinda which starred Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit.

According to a recent newspaper report, 46-year-old Cage has been cast in one of the leading roles for the forthcoming Bollywood movie which is due to begin filming in early next year. The role would mark the Academy Award nominated actor’s first foray into an Indian cinema.

Another high profile Hollywood actor to be linked to the gangster movie is Mickey Rourke who is currently part of an all-star cast in the Sylvester Stallone movie, The Expendables. The Wrestler star is also said to be in talks with the Indian director with a view to taking on a role in the Bollywood movie.

The last movie which Chopra worked on, albeit in a producer role, was Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots which was a runaway success and broke many box office records.

If Chopra succeeds in getting both Nicolas Cage and Mickey Rourke onboard for his new movie Broken Horses, the Indian director may have another smash hit film on his hands.

The trailer for Dav-eh's new single Fly Away is available to view now

Up and coming urban desi artist Dav-eh is about to release his debut single, Fly Away, however the talent youngster has another reason to celebrate after attracting the attention of top name bhangra singer, Bikram Singh.

New York based Punjabi vocalist Bikram Singh is said to have been so impressed with Dav-eh that he’s agreed to collaborate with the emerging star on a forthcoming track. US artist Bikram Singh has toured the world extensively with his music and secured the biggest selling album of the year in the UK in 2005 with his record, American Jugni, so the young Dav-eh will have plenty to learn from the established bhangra star.

The trailer for Fly Away is available to view now online. The single is produced by Sunny Brown who offered to work on Dav-eh’s first release after the youngster sent him a sample of his work. Sunny Brown was so impressed by his talent that he jumped at the chance to produce his first single, the result of which is Fly Away.

With a collaboration with bhangra hit-maker Bikram Singh on the cards, and the release of his first ever single, things are looking up for Dav-eh. Although the rising artist is still working on fulfilling another great ambition, that is working alongside one of his biggest inspirations, Miss Pooja. The way things are going for Dav-eh right now, he may not have to wait too long for that phone call from the first lady of bhangra.
