Jaz Dhami teams up with Chelsea FC to find Britain’s next Asian football star

International bhangra music artist, Jaz Dhami, is on a mission to find Britain’s next Asian football star. The singer of ‘Theke Wali’ fame, from his debut album JD that has rocked dance floors since 2009, is working for the third year with Chelsea FC to find Asian football talent.

More than 400 children and their families were present on Saturday May 26 to earn their place on a one-year placement at Chelsea FC Foundation’s Elite Training Centre. Chelsea FC’s groundbreaking search for an Asian star has attracted international media attention, with Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan joining the throng of celebrities backing the innovative project.

Punjabi singer Jaz who is a coach himself said: “This year I’ve seen a massive progression and I’m excited to be here. There aren’t any other clubs that put these events on and it gives the youngsters a great platform from which to build. I would like to see more of it, I’ve been involved over the past three years and I’m surprised other clubs where there is a big Asian population haven’t followed suit.”

Chelsea Foundation coaches closely scrutinised the competitors, selecting the best in four age groups from Under 9s to Under 12s. This year’s winners will return to the club’s training ground later in the summer for a week-long trial.

Amitabh Bachchan to perform at IPL gala after recovering from surgery

Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan will make his first public appearance since undergoing abdominal surgery when he performs at the IPL gala on April 3rd.

The actor and presenter underwent an operation in Mumbai in February to investigate an abdominal complaint. The star spent time in hospital recovering after the surgery, but is now back at home and understood to be making progress.

Medical experts have advised Big B that he will be well enough to return to work by the beginning of April. To mark his return to acting duties, Bachchan will appear at the IPL gala on April 3rd, which will celebrate the launch of the Indian Premier League Season 5. The Bollywood legend is set to perform a poem written especially for the occasion by the writer and lyricist, Prasson Joshi.

Writing in Twitter, the well know actor informed his followers that he was already preparing for his return to public life, adding that he was “nervous as hell” which just goes to show that even seasoned performers such as Amitabh Bachchan get the jitters at the prospect of appearing at such as high profile event.

A line-up of international artists are due to attend and perform at the gala, which takes place the day before the first day of play on April 4th. Other famous faces from the world of Bollywood scheduled to appear include Priyanka Chopra and Salman Khan.

Amitabh Bachchan recovering at home following abdominal surgery

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan is back home and recovering following surgery to investigate an abdominal complaint. The actor and presenter, who’s appeared in over 180 movies, has endured a two week stay in a Mumbai hospital after undergoing an operation on February 11th.

The legendary actor appears to be on the road to recovery and was even feeling well enough to update both his blog and Twitter account, thanking fans for their blessings and prayers which the Bollywood star credits with aiding his recovery.

In his personal blog, the 69-year-old star revealed it was, “A joy to be back in familiar surroundings”, obviously happy and relieved to be back home again. However the actor was sharp as ever in the posting, pointing the finger at a group of journalists who had blocked his car, hampering his journey home from hospital this week.

While Amitabh Bachchan seemed in good spirits, he added that he was still in pain following his surgery writing that, “discomfort and soreness persists”. It’s been suggested that the actor may have undergone a second operation in the last two weeks, which would explain the star’s extended stay in hospital and his current discomfort.

Bachchan was admitted to hospital earlier this month after suffering abdominal pain. The TV Gameshow host has experienced long-running health problems linked to his stomach after rupturing his spleen during a movie shoot in the 80’s.

Amitabh Bachchan making a speedy recovery after stomach surgery

Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan is reportedly on the road to recovery after undergoing five hours of surgery in a Mumbai hospital on Saturday.

The actor and presenter is certainly making a speedy recovery as he was back on Twitter yesterday evening thanking his fans for their support and prayers. The 69-year-old revealed he was on the operating table for five hours on Saturday, explaining that the surgery took so long as the surgeons needed to operate on both sides of his stomach.

A source is believed to have quoted a member of staff at the Seven Hills Hospital where the surgery took place who revealed that the Bollywood legend would be discharged from hospital today, just two days after going under the knife, which would signal that the star is making a very good recovery.

Amitabh’s son, Abhishek Bachchan, let fans know that the surgery was a success and thanked everyone for their continued support on Saturday through a statement released on Twitter.

The reason for the surgery has still not been revealed, although The Big B did confirm that it was linked to recent abdominal pains he’d been experiencing. It’s understood the surgery is likely to be related to an injury the actor sustained in 1984 when filming a fight scene for the movie Coolio.

The Bollywood star is due to make a splash in Hollywood this year as he will appear in the new adaption of The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo Dicaprio.

Amitabh Bachchan to undergo surgery this week

Bollywood mega star, Amitabh Bachchan confirmed today in his online blog that he will undergo surgery this week after suffering from abdominal pain.

The 69-year-old actor did not go into detail with regard to the nature of the surgery, only revealing that the operation would take place on Saturday morning after undergoing a CT scan. Bachchan added that the op was “not too complicated.”The actor has been complaining of abdominal pain recently and it’s understood the surgery is linked to this.

The Big B is no stranger to hospital food having endured two notable hospital stays in the past. In 2005 the Bollywood actor and presenter spent several weeks under medical supervision, and also time in intensive care, after undergoing surgery for an intestinal complaint.

The star also had a brush with death in 1982 after he ruptured his spleen while shooting a fight scene on the set on the movie, Coolio, resulting in a long stay in hospital. It is suspected that many of Amitabh Bachchan’s subsequent health issues may have steamed from this incident 30 years ago.

The host of the Indian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, was delighted at the birth of his new granddaughter in November last year when his son Abhishek Bachchan and his wife Aishwarya Rai welcomed their first child. Most recently the legendary Indian actor was seen entertaining American TV host Oprah Winfrey during her recent visit to India.

Oprah Winfrey visits the Bachchan family during visit to India

Oprah Winfrey was given a very warm welcome during her first visit to India this week by one of the most famous Bollywood families. Head of the Bachchan clan, Amitabh Bachchan, even turned into a personal chauffeur for the famous TV host, getting behind the wheel of his white Rolls Royce to drive Oprah Winfrey to a Mumbai party held in her honour.

The veteran TV presenter was photographed arriving at the star studded party in Mumbai in the back of the stunning Rolls Royce driven by Amitabh. Oprah Winfrey was wearing an orange sari with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan seated next to her in the luxury car for company. Actor and Aishwarya’s husband, Abhishek, was seated in the front seat alongside his father.

New parents Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also had a special visitor to their home this week as the US chat show host visited the couple’s home, spending more than an hour at the Bachchan residence where she is believed to have met the couple’s two-month-old daughter, nicknamed Beti B.

Bollywood star, Amitabh Bachchan, tweeted about Oprah Winfrey’s visit to all of his Twitter followers as he wrote, “The gracious Oprah Winfrey visits our home, to meet us and bless the baby..warm hearted, endearing .. drive her to party in her honor,”

Oprah Winfrey will be attending the Jaipur Literature Festival during her visit to India, and is also planning to carry out filming for her new TV show, Next Chapter, while in the country.

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene to get her own waxwork at Madame Tussauds

Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit Nene has been confirmed as the next Indian film star to have a waxwork created in her image in a statement released by the world famous waxwork model attraction, Madame Tussauds.

The award winning actress will join the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Salman Khan, Hrithiki Roshan and Kareena Kapoor who already have waxwork lookalikes of themselves featured at Madame Tussauds in the Bollywood film star area.

The waxwork of the 44-year-old actress will take approximately 4 months to complete and is expected to be ready to be unveiled by March 2012. While a great deal of secrecy often surrounds the creation of the wax models by the renowned attraction, Madhuri confirmed the news herself this week on Twitter after Madame Tussauds made an official announcement.

The waxwork of the Tezaab actress will reportedly be draped with a sari created by the well known designer Manish Malhotra, although the designer would not confirm which sari had been chosen for the special purpose. The mother-of-two has already undergone initial sittings for the sculptors creating the waxwork, although it will be several weeks before the work is complete.

Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan to name their baby daughter at Christmas

Bollywood’s most famous couple, Aishwarya Rai and Abhisheck Bachchan, will name their new born baby daughter in a traditional naming ceremony this Christmas.

The new addition to the Bachchan family arrived home for the very first time yesterday after mother and baby were discharged from hospital after a 7-day stay. The proud parents were accompanied by new grandparent and Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan and his wife and Aishwarya’s parents as they left the Mumbai hospital and took Beti B, as she’s being referred to at the moment, to her new home.

According to proud grandfather Amitabh, the little bundle of joy looks like her mother, which is not bad thing considering Aishwarya Bachchan is a former Miss World. However no official photographs have been released of the new baby, so the Bollywood fans will have to wait to see if they agree with Amitabh’s verdict.

While actor Abhisheck has invited suggestions from his Twitter followers for baby names, there’s been a hint that the Bollywood couple are considering a name beginning with an A to match both of their names.

According to some press reports, the Bachchan baby will be officially named in a special ceremony over the Christmas period with family and friends invited to give their suggestions, after which the baby will finally be named. The parents are planning a grand celebration, with top chefs being called in to create a feast of South Asian and vegetarian dishes especially for the baby naming ceremony.

Bhangra music producer Rishi Rich ties the knot in London

Legendary bhangra music producer, Rishi Rich, bid farewell to the bachelor lifestyle on Saturday when he married fiancée Manrina Rhode in a lavish ceremony in London.

Popular magazine, Asiana Wedding, will feature an exclusive spread of the glittering nuptials in their upcoming edition of the glossy bridal magazine, but to whet your appetite, a selection of snaps from the big day have been posted on the magazine’s Asiana TV site.

A whole host of famous faces are believed to have attended the start studded nuptials, with Bollywood actor, Abhishek Bachchan, being publically invited by the groom himself in a Twitter message. However it’s not know if the Bollywood hunk made it to the big day as the actor has injured himself twice in the last month while filming his new movie, sustaining a nasty cut which needed stitches above his eye, and a hairline fracture on his finger.

One celeb who was definitely at the London wedding between Rishi Rich and cosmetic dentist Manrina Rhode was Radio 1 DJ, Nihal, who tweeted good luck to the groom on Saturday morning, sharing with his followers his plans to attend the wedding.

According to reports, the couple tied the knot in a traditional Sikh ceremony at a Gurudwara in London. It is thought the Rishi Rich crew were all in attendance including Juggy D, H-Dhami and Veronica.
