Legendary bhangra musician and songwriter, Dev Raj Jassal, has sadly passed away this week after losing his battle with pancreatic cancer.

The bhangra artist has been a long standing and much respected figure in the music industry for many years, and will be very sadly missed.

Dev Raj Jassal has penned some of the best loved bhangra hits of recent times, including the lyrics to the A.S Kang’s hit single, Aish Karo.

As well as being an accomplished songwriter within the bhangra genre, Jassal was also a talented musician and played alongside some of the biggest names in the business. Most recently, he performed on the flute alongside Gurjeet Sidhu and music producers Tigerstyle in a special performance for the BBC’s Asian Network. Jassal played the flute, and also the Algozey and the Tumbi.

A special tribute page has been set up following the sad news of Jassal’s death this week. Fans, friends, and those who’ve worked with the bhangra legend in the past have the chance to leave their messages of condolence and share fond memories from their experiences with Jassal on the online tribute page.
