Bhangra singer Jaz Dhami plans new single with Eren E

If you’ve been pining for bhangra singer Jaz Dhami of late, then here’s some good news for you and all of the UK based singer’s fans. After almost a year out of the limelight, 25-year-old Jaz is due to make his musical comeback in 2012 with the release of a brand new club track produced by a well known record maker.

Jaz Dhami hasn’t released a single since last January when Tere Naal, produced by DJ Harvey, became a hit for the vocalist from Birmingham. However the rest of 2011 passed without as much as a hint of a new record from the popular singer.

That is all about to change in 2012 as Jaz Dhami has reportedly been hard at work putting in the hours on his second album which will be the follow up to his debut record, JD released in 2009. Teke Wali was one of the biggest hits to come off Jaz’s debut album and the singer will be hoping to emulate its success with the first release off what is tipped to be his next album.

There had been rumours that Jaz Dhami was working with music producer, Eren E, who is famed for producing the smash hit record, Amplifier, for Imran Khan. Jaz confirmed his involvement with the hitmaker himself by writing on Twitter recently, “Touchdown in Amsterdam, here to do some work with Eren E.”

The new track from Jaz Dhami in association with Eren E is still unnamed at present, however it’s believed to be an up-tempo club track and due for release in early 2012.

Jaz Dhami wins Best Male at Brit Asia Music Awards and prepares for his 4th video release

The video for Jaz's new single is due for release

For singer Jaz Dhami life doesn’t get much better. The talented artist is celebrating after picking up the award for Best Male at the Brit Asia Music Awards over the weekend and is also preparing for the release of his fourth single from his debut album JD.

The up and coming star even beat off competition form the likes of Jay Sean, Sukshinder Shinda, Imran Khan and Malkit Singh to pick up the coveted title of Best Male at Birmingham’s Brit Asia Music Awards on Sunday night which is a remarkable achievement for someone who is a relative newcomer to the industry.

But this week it was back to business as usual as Jaz prepares to hit our screen once again with his 4th video release the fantastic Bari Der, directed by Jazz Virk.

Since his arrival on the Asian bhangra scene last year, Jaz Dhami has made a significant impact with his music. Bari Der looks set to continue Jaz’s success in transforming the music scene, re- scripting the old and bringing a fresh slice of authentic Desi music back to our screens.

Bari Der is set in the back drop of the Punjab, and follows the story of a young man leaving his homeland to earn money for his family in the western world. His story is emotional as he finds it difficult coping to live away from his loved ones and he is left rekindling memories of yester years yearning for the day to be reunited with his family. The story has a universal meaning of detachment and missing those close to your soul.

Bari Der will touch everyone’s hearts with its deep felt lyrics that gives words to feelings that sometimes cannot be defined, but are executed precisely through the tracks narrative.

This will mark the final video release off Jaz Dhami’s debut album JD, but there is still more to come from the new golden boy of Bhangra music, with two exciting collaborations which will be hitting our airways in the run up to summer.

JAZ DHAMI BACKS CHELSEA FOOTBALL CLUB’S SEARCH FOR AN ASIAN SOCCER STAR 2010

Jaz hopes to encourage more young Asians to consider football as a career

Asian artist Jaz Dhami, will be supporting Chelsea Football Clubs groundbreaking Search for an Asian Star project this year, in a bid to drum up support for the Asian community to get involved.

Last year, two Asian Stars have now gone on to sign for professional clubs and this year Chelsea will be offering six lucky players the chance to win a week-long trial at Chelsea football Clubs world famous Academy.

This year, the project is bigger and better, with Chelsea FC teaming up with the Asian Media Group and Kick It Out as well as Jaz Dhami to ensure that everyone is aware of the project which is the first of its kind ever to be undertaken by a professional football club, designed to give a much needed boost to Asian participation at all levels of the game.

Jaz Dhami said “I have been working very closely with a number of sporting bodies in encouraging more Asians to get involved in football as I want to help break down boundaries and encourage more Asians to get involved in the game’

Jaz added “I am fully in support of Chelsea Football Clubs Search for an Asian Star Campaign as it is a fantastic initiative that not only gives young Asians a chance to break into professional football, but also provides a platform to lift awareness of football within the Asian community which I feel is important in trying to get more Asian kids involved in the game. I will be attending the tournaments which will take place over the bank holiday weekend to offer my encouragement and support to this extremely proactive project”

The tournament will take place on the second May Bank Holiday weekend (29-31) for players from Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan and Bangladeshi backgrounds aged eight to 13-years-old.

Participants will be judged on a series of matches and tests specifically designed and used by the Chelsea Academy to examine speed, skill and ability.

One player from each age group will be selected for a week’s training with the Chelsea Academy squads during the summer with any player meeting the required standard being offered the chance to be signed by the Blues.

Last year’s initiative saw 350 young people attending the Cobham training ground and the three winning players training and turning out for Chelsea teams during the summer. Two of last year’s winners have since gone to be signed by Leyton Orient and Southend.

‘Last year was a massive success with two of the boys going from Sunday League football to play for professional clubs,’ said Simon Taylor, Chelsea’s head of CSR. ‘We want this year’s tournament to be bigger and better so we have doubled the amount of age groups and trials on offer.

‘The scheme is not just about finding the next Anelka, Drogba or Lampard, it is about breaking down barriers, showing Asian players that opportunities at all levels of the game do exist and encouraging them to maximise their potential.’

Chelsea Football Club will also be inviting managers, coaches and scouts from clubs at all levels of the game to identify talented youngsters and information will also be on hand for Asian players to find clubs in their area.

Piara Powar, Director of Kick It Out, added: ‘We fully endorse the Search for an Asian Star initiative. The outcomes from 2009 demonstrate how a project like this can break down stereotypes, and give genuine opportunities in the professional game for talented young Asian players.

Applications are now open but places are limited for each day. To register for the trials please visit the Chelsea website.

Jaz Dhami juggles a career in bhangra with football

Bhangra star Jaz is training for his Level 2 FA coaching badge

Up and coming bhangra artist Jaz Dhami has revealed that he is not just a talented singer, but also a promising football coach.

The 24-year-old from Birmingham, who has been carving out a successful career in music over the past few years, has embarked on a training post with Aston Villa’s under 15’s coach. The ambitious youngster has already achieved his Level One FA coaching badge and is now working on the Level Two badge along with the coaching team at Aston Villa.

Jaz is fast becoming a well-known figure within the world of bhangra having scooped the coveted Best Newcomer Award at last year’s Asian Music Awards. The singer also has a successful debut album under his belt which produced a number of big hits. However the music star has aspirations to pursue his love of the beautiful game as well.

Whilst growing up, Jaz was a promising footballer himself. After getting involved in the music industry, his football career fell by the wayside. The singer hopes that his involvement in the sport will encourage more British Asians to consider a career in football as he believes many are discouraged from becoming footballers because of parental pressure. The figures seem to speak for themselves too: Out of the 2,500 footballers working within the UK, only 7 are Asian.
