Jaz Dhami wins Best Male at Brit Asia Music Awards and prepares for his 4th video release

The video for Jaz's new single is due for release

For singer Jaz Dhami life doesn’t get much better. The talented artist is celebrating after picking up the award for Best Male at the Brit Asia Music Awards over the weekend and is also preparing for the release of his fourth single from his debut album JD.

The up and coming star even beat off competition form the likes of Jay Sean, Sukshinder Shinda, Imran Khan and Malkit Singh to pick up the coveted title of Best Male at Birmingham’s Brit Asia Music Awards on Sunday night which is a remarkable achievement for someone who is a relative newcomer to the industry.

But this week it was back to business as usual as Jaz prepares to hit our screen once again with his 4th video release the fantastic Bari Der, directed by Jazz Virk.

Since his arrival on the Asian bhangra scene last year, Jaz Dhami has made a significant impact with his music. Bari Der looks set to continue Jaz’s success in transforming the music scene, re- scripting the old and bringing a fresh slice of authentic Desi music back to our screens.

Bari Der is set in the back drop of the Punjab, and follows the story of a young man leaving his homeland to earn money for his family in the western world. His story is emotional as he finds it difficult coping to live away from his loved ones and he is left rekindling memories of yester years yearning for the day to be reunited with his family. The story has a universal meaning of detachment and missing those close to your soul.

Bari Der will touch everyone’s hearts with its deep felt lyrics that gives words to feelings that sometimes cannot be defined, but are executed precisely through the tracks narrative.

This will mark the final video release off Jaz Dhami’s debut album JD, but there is still more to come from the new golden boy of Bhangra music, with two exciting collaborations which will be hitting our airways in the run up to summer.

Jay Sean wins two Brit Asia Music Awards

Jay Sean wins two gongs at the Brit Asia Music Awards

R&B superstar Jay Sean had a hugely successful night on Sunday after winning two out of the four awards he’d been nominated for at the Brit Asia Music Awards.

Jay was named the Best UK Urban Act and his hit track Down, which charted at number one in the US Billboard Chart, won the gong for Best Single.

The 26 year old had been shortlisted for Best Male, but lost out to Jaz Dhami, and Jay’s album All or Nothing was beaten in the Best Album category by Imran Khan’s Unforgettable.

The awards took place at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall in front of a packed audience of music fans and celebrities. Hardeep Singh Kholi, known for his roving reporter role on the BBC’s The One Show, hosted the night and did a fantastic job of keeping the crowd and famous faces entertained.

After the disappointment of not receiving a single nomination for the Brit Awards in February, it seems the singer from Hounslow’s luck may be changing. As well as picking up two awards at the Brit Asia TV Awards, Jay also swept the board at the British Asian Music Awards earlier this year after winning every award for which he was nominated taking home a total of four trophies.

The singer has recently returned from Australia where he played a number of dates in the country. Music fans are eagerly awaiting the release of a track which sees Jay Sean collaborate with Mary J Blige.

PBN are aiming to be number one this Saturday

Following the launch of the official Asian Download Chart last month, bhangra producers Punjabi By Nature have released a single from their yet-to-be released album early, in a bid to clinch the number one spot on the brand new chart.

The PBN track Kaun Nee Jaandah was released last week on April 15th and within hours of being available to download, it became the first pure bhangra track to enjoy a stint at the top of the iTunes UK World Music Store.
