Lady Gaga performs in India for the first time

US pop singer and international superstar, Lady Gaga, has touched down in India this week and performed a sell out performance to an audience which included some of Bollywood’s biggest names.

The Bad Romance singer gave an amazing performance at Arjun Raampal’s closing party for the Indian Grand Prix over the weekend, singing some of her biggest hits and also giving an exclusive first performance of her new single, Marry the Night.

Famed for her elaborate stage shows, Lady Gaga didn’t disappoint during her first performance in the country, putting together a special performance incorporating many authentic Indian elements as a fitting tribute to the host country.

The 26-year-old singer had a sitar player flown in especially to accompany her during her gig, and chose to wear a sari by Indian fashion designer, Tarun Tahiliani, although in typical Gaga style she ripped up part of the sari and teamed the look a white bodysuit to create her own unique twist on the traditional Indian look.

The singer declared she’d waited a “lifetime” to perform in India and that she’d initially been asked to sing just three sings during her set, but flatly refused, instead performing a full show including a number of acoustic renditions of her most famous hit songs.

The performance went down a storm with some of the biggest names in Bollywood who’d snapped up tickets to the exclusive party to celebrate the final day of the Grand Prix. Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Bipasha Basu were all reported to have been present to see Lady Gaga perform for the first time ever in India.
