Indian reality TV show Big Boss celebrated the wedding of two of its housemates last week, marking the first time a couple have tied the knot on the reality show.

However the wedding was hit with controversy after pictures emerged in the press showing what looked like the couple getting married in 2008.

The families of the bride and groom, Sara Khan and Ali Merchant, have rubbished the claims in the media that the pair are already married, saying the pictures which have emerged show the couple celebrating at their engagement party, not their wedding.

The newlyweds have played out their romance in front of the cameras over the last few weeks after Ali convinced the show bosses to let him enter the house to sort out issues with his then girlfriend, Sara, who was already inside the Big Boss house.

After hearing Sara discussing her relationship with Ali on the show, and admitting that she was considering splitting from her partner of three years, Ali decided to enter the show to talk her round.

Ali’s plan worked and so he wasted no time in going down on one knee and asking Sara to marry him.

A wedding was planned for November 10^th, the date of the couple’s third anniversary. As well as the other Big Boss housemates, the bride and groom’s families were invited to the nuptials. Highlights of the wedding were broadcast on TV.
