Bhangra singer JK named Best Newcomer at the UK ASIAN MUSIC AWARDS (UKAMA) 2010

Last week B4u Music presented The Lebara Mobile UK Asian Music Awards 2010 held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, to commemorate the achievements of the talent in the UK Asian music scene today.

The public were given the opportunity to determine the nominees and the winners for these awards, and with no surprise JK took home the well deserved award as Best New Comer! JK and VIP Records would like to take this opportunity to thank his family, friends and most of all his fans for all the support they have shown over the year.

The UK’s very own traditional bhangra folk singer is set to release his album, ‘Gabru Punjab Dha’ in June 2010. The music on the album is set to be completed by the immensely talented producer, Tru Skool. The album will be supported by 7 great videos, one of which will be filmed later this month in New York.

DJ H of Kudos Roadshow Named Best Club DJ at the Asian Music Awards

As one of the most sought after DJs working on the international club scene, it came as no surprise to hear that DJ H had picked up the award for Best Club DJ at the Asian Music Awards at London’s Royal Festival Hall last week.

The annual awards show is held in high esteem by all artists working within the UK’s Asian music scene as a public vote determines the nominees and the winners.

As well as being a prominent figure on the international club circuit, DJ H is also one of the country’s most popular DJs for Asian weddings. DJ H performs at a whole host of wedding dates through his own company, Kudos Roadshow.

Kudos Music are fast becoming one of the hottest names in Asian entertainment. Only last month Kudos Roadshow reported that many of the peak wedding dates in 2010 were already fully booked. Due to the high demand for the top DJ entertainment service, Kudos Roadshow are already taking bookings for Asian weddings as far in advance as 2011 and 2012.

DJ H is also recognised as a top music producer and boasts a two hit albums namely The Debut and Reloaded which gave rise to a number of great club hits including Ishq Brandy, Char Panj, and Jawani.

Jay Sean wins big at the Asian Music Awards

Jay Sean picked up the award for Best Male Act as well as three other trophies at the AMA's

It was a clean sweep for Jay Sean at last week’s Asian Music Awards 2010 after he walked away with every award for which he had been nominated.

In total the Down singer claimed 4 trophies including the gong for Best Album for his record All Or Nothing, he also picked up the Best Male, Best Video, and Best Urban Act awards.

The Asian Music Awards were a far cry from the other big night in UK music industry, The Brit Awards. Despite Jay’s runaway success both in Britain and across the pond in the US, he failed to receive a single nomination at The Brits.

The 26-year-old from Hounslow also revealed in an interview after the awards that he has a collaboration in the pipeline with the 9-time Grammy award winner Mary J Blige. Jay described the experience of recording with the acclaimed singer as “incredible” adding that they are due to shoot the video to accompany the track in London in the very near future.

Other winners at the Asian Music Awards ceremony held in London’s Royal Festival Hall included Amar, who was named Best Female, Sukshinder Shinda who won Best Producer and Imran Khan who picked up the trophy for Best Desi Act. Khan also opened the ceremony with a show-stopping performance which saw him drape a live snake around his neck. Girl band the Sugababes also performed at the ceremony.
