Strictly Come Bhangra Raises £14,000 for Charity

Charity-Week-01Strictly Come Dancing has become a UK favourite, with the whole country enjoying watching an eclectic range of dances from around the world.

However, seldom do we see Bhangra make its way to the big screen, with the Bhangra lovers of the UK having to organise their own dance celebrations.

The Heathland School in Hounslow has done just this, organising their own version of the show. Their Strictly Come Bhangra talent show tested teachers and pupils, encouraging people to show off their chaffas and lehrias in front of a crowd.

Although a lunchtime activity the competition took centre stage of their charity week which raised an astounding £14,000 for a selection of deserved charities.

This sum was shared between children’s hospice charity Shooting Star Chase, mental health charity Young Minds, and Unicef, three fantastic charities that will benefit greatly from this contribution.

We at Bhangra.co.uk would like to congratulate Heathland School on their fantastic achievement!
